İstanbul Copyright Awards
I. DEFINITION
İstanbul Copyright Awards” is designed for all foreign professional publishing houses, in particular the participants of Istanbul Publishing Fellowship Program.
II. ORGANIZER
“İstanbul Copyright Awards” is organized by Turkish Press and Publishers Copyright & Licencing Society, with the support of Republic of Türkiye Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
III. OBJECTIVE
“İstanbul Copyright Awards” are designed for foreign publishing houses that contribute to translation of the unique intellectual, artistic, and cultural production of Turkish publishing sector and promotion of these works across the globe. The objective of the awards is to contribute to Turkish publishing sector’s development, cultural cooperation, and promotion by supporting copyright sales of Turkish titles, encouraging further copyright transactions, and rewarding the achievements.
IV. EVALUATION
This year’s awards will not involve a formal participation process. Instead, winners will be selected directly by the Istanbul Publishing Fellowship Coordination Committee based on their own research and evaluation of eligible foreign publishing houses.
V. CONDITIONS
Eligible foreign publishing houses must have translated and published copyrighted Turkish titles within the past 5 years, with headquarters located outside Türkiye. There are no restrictions on the genre or number of Turkish titles translated by a participating publishing house.
The Evaluation Committee, members of the Board of Directors of Turkish Press and Publishers Copyright and Licensing Society, their representatives, and first-degree relatives are ineligible to participate.
The Evaluation Committee will ensure that the copyright of the translated titles is cleared by the publishing house. Titles containing racist, sexist, pro-terror, or criminal content are not eligible for consideration.
Participants found to have forged ownership of the financial rights of a title will be disqualified.
Turkish Press and Publishers Copyright and Licensing Society reserves the right to change the conditions of the competition through prior announcement on its website.

Evaluation committee consists of people who were determined by Coordination Board of Istanbul Publishing Fellowship and approved by Board Turkish Press and Publishers Copyright and Licencing Society. The Evaluation Committee will start their assignment upon the approval of Turkish Press and Publishers Copyright and Licencing Society.
The Evaluation Committee will operate in full independency and neutrality in making their final decision.
The head of the Evaluation Committee, like other members of the Evaluation Committee, will cast one vote. The voting will be secret, and the winner will be determined through majority of the votes.
The decision of the Evaluation Committee will be deemed final, and no secondary round of evaluation will be held in the event of complaints. The Evaluation Committee will communicate its decision to the Head of İstanbul Publishing Fellowship Coordination Board together with a justification of the selection.
The Evaluation Committee shall operate on a voluntary basis, and no member of the Evaluation Committee shall request a per diem. The Evaluation Committee may decide to reward nobody. Such decisions shall only be binding for that specific year.
VIII. CONDITIONS FOR EVALUATION
The competitors will be evaluated based on several qualitative and quantitative criteria including how many books an applicant publishing house translated from Turkish as well as:
- ISBN information
- Number of copies
- Promotion and visibility of the publication,
- The quality of translation,
- Number of pages,
- Physical characteristics of the book (cover page, binding, paper type)
- All national and international news stories on the book(s) including articles, cultural supplements, book supplements, etc.
- Panels, conferences, talks, autograph sessions, seminars,
- Social media campaigns,
- Author’s conferences,
- Whether the book is listed in library collections,
- Ratios of distribution and sales.
AWARDS
The following awards will be given to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners:
1st Place:
Gold package at the 10th IPF & 7-day accommodation for two in Istanbul
2st Place:
Gold package at the 10th IPF & 3-day accommodation for two in Istanbul
3st Place:
Gold package at the 10th IPF & 3-day accommodation for two in Istanbul
